Otterbein Nursing education online with Blackboard Collaborate integration

The Story:

 

The Otterbein challenge involved how to provide nursing students with effective and visual OB/Maternity oriented instruction amidst COVID-19 social distancing restrictions.

Instructor Chris Zamaripa, MSN, RN instituted a creative approach by combining the HESS Fetal Monitor Simulator with the capabilities of Blackboard Collaborate to record her instructional lecture aided by the HESS Fetal Monitor visuals and Blackboard Collaborate's annotations.

The students were able to access the recorded lectures from their safe locations - and on-demand on their own schedules - making sure that each and every student could receive the information.

Chris was delighted to be able to continue to deliver her own instructional curriculum for the students rather than locating and relying on boilerplate or "canned" materials from outside sources.
